People

Purpose: Education First Youth Foyers connect students to people and social networks that enable, coach and mentor them to succeed and build a sustainable livelihood.

Key question: What people enable the young person to succeed?

People explained: To achieve their potential EFY Foyer students need to be surrounded by people – community mentors and employers – who believe that all young people are:

  • talented
  • capable of achieving on their own and on behalf of others
  • valuable assets for the community.

These people need to believe that all young people have talents and, given the right opportunities and support, everyone can develop these talents to build a sustainable livelihood. Young people are active agents in this approach.  Collectively, those engaged with EFY Foyer students – staff, teachers, community mentors and coaches – need energy, enthusiasm, dynamism, entrepreneurialism as well as empathy and authenticity and the capacity to listen. These people need to recognise that these students are valuable assets for the community.  In relation to EFY Foyers there are three key people areas:

  • students
  • staff, mentors and coaches
  • community connections.
